(Neurolinguistics)*

*Meaning in the Mind*

_Captain Mohamed Hassan Al-Tahir_

_Date: November 10, 2025_

At the heart of the human experience, “meaning” emerges as one of the most influential concepts in shaping behavior, guiding decisions, and constructing identity. Meaning is not merely a mental interpretation of reality—it is _the lens through which we see the world and understand ourselves and others_. It is the hidden link between:

– Thought and emotion

– The individual and society

– The past and the future

—

*🧠 What Is Meaning?*

– Meaning is _the ability to connect symbols, experiences, and implications to a mental or emotional context_.

– It transforms words into more than sounds and events into more than occurrences.

– Meaning gives life direction, makes pain bearable, and joy valuable.

—

*🌿 Meaning and the Shock of Perception*

In the story of Al-Khidr and Moses, we witness a clash between _apparent meaning and hidden meaning_. Moses, the prophet of law, could not tolerate Al-Khidr’s seemingly irrational actions:

– Damaging a ship

– Killing a boy

– Rebuilding a wall

But Al-Khidr revealed that _true meaning is not always grasped at first glance_, and that behind every act lies wisdom that may only be understood in full context. This story teaches us that _meaning is not always clear, and patience with ambiguity is essential for deeper understanding_.

*👼 Psychological Meaning Between Angels and Iblis After Adam’s Creation*

When Adam was created and God commanded the angels and Iblis to bow to him, Iblis refused. His defiance was not mere rebellion—it stemmed from _his own interpretation of meaning_:

– “I am better than him; You created me from fire and him from clay.”

Iblis redefined meaning based on material superiority, while the angels submitted to divine meaning rooted in obedience and wisdom. This event shows that *differences in interpreting meaning can lead to:

– Obedience or rebellion

– Light or darkness*

—

*🧬 Social Meaning and the Construction of the Self*

*🗣️ “The women in the city said…”*

This phrase reveals how _social meaning is constructed through collective language_. The women saw only a superficial scene, yet they built a narrative that impacted a woman’s fate. Meaning here is shaped by:

– Gossip

– Collective interpretation

– Interpersonal dynamics

*🧕 “We found our forefathers on a nation…”*

This phrase embodies _inherited meaning_, where behavior is followed not out of conviction but tradition. It invites reflection on how meaning can become a constraint if not questioned or re-evaluated.

—

*⚖️ Meaning and the Definition of Good and Evil*

Good and evil are not always absolute; they are often defined by _the meaning assigned to an action_.

– What is considered good in one culture may be seen as evil in another.

This highlights the importance of _critical awareness_ in constructing moral meaning, beyond indoctrination or emotional reaction.

—

*🔥 Are Wars an Existential Necessity Caused by a Crisis of Meaning?*

Wars are not merely conflicts over resources—they are often _conflicts over meaning_:

– Who holds the right?

– Who is the enemy?

– What defines the homeland?

When meaning is distorted, the other becomes a threat, and war becomes justified. _A breakdown in meaning can produce a neurotic tendency toward violence, as a reaction to losing psychological and social direction._

—

*🧠 How Do We Solve the Neurotic Inclination Toward War?*

*🧬 First: Through Neurolinguistics*

Neurolinguistics studies _how language is processed in the brain_, and how words affect emotions and behavior. It helps us understand how mental images that fuel hostility or tolerance are formed, and how we can _reshape meaning in the mind_ to reduce aggression.

*🌀 Second: Through Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)*

NLP offers tools to reprogram the mind through language, such as:

– _Reframing meaning_: Turning negative experiences into learning opportunities

– – _Dismantling destructive beliefs_: Like “the other is dangerous” or “violence is the solution”

– _Building new mental models_ that promote peace and understanding

—

*🌟 Conclusion*

Meaning is not a philosophical luxury—it is _the essence of human existence_. From Al-Khidr and Moses, to Iblis and the angels, to the women in the city, we see that _meaning is what makes the difference between understanding and misunderstanding, between peace and war, between light and darkness_.

Perhaps the greatest act we can undertake is to _rebuild meaning in our minds and societies_ —not just to change the world, but to truly comprehend it.
