*A Journey Through the Divine Unknown: Time as the Fourth Dimension in the Stories of Uzair, the People of the Cave, and Solomon*
_Captain Mohammed Hassan Al-Tahir_
_Date: November 19, 2025_
Time, in a world governed by rigid physical laws, remains one of the most mysterious and thought-provoking dimensions. While we count hours and days, the Qur’an offers glimpses of divine intervention where these laws are suspended—where time becomes flexible, stretching and contracting by the will of God.
Among the most striking Qur’anic scenes are: the story of the People of the Cave, and the story of Uzair, whom God caused to die for a hundred years and then revived.
*🕰️ Time in the Qur’an*
In human understanding, time is a straight line—beginning in the past and extending into the future.
But in Qur’anic narratives, we see that God suspends time or reshapes it, making it a tool of divine miracle and reflection.
As Allah says:
– *The People of the Cave*:
_“And they remained in their cave for three hundred years and exceeded by nine.”
– *Uzair*:
_“So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years; then He revived him.”_
These verses open the door to understanding time as a “fourth dimension”—not merely measured in minutes and hours, but folded and extended by divine will.
*🧠 The Fourth Dimension: A Physical and Spiritual Perspective*
In modern physics:
– Time is viewed as the fourth dimension, complementing the three spatial dimensions.
Einstein’s theory of relativity shows:
– Time is not absolute; it is affected by speed and gravity.
Yet the Qur’an preceded these theories by implying that time is not fixed—it can be:
– Suspended
– Accelerated
– Slowed down
*The People of the Cave*:
– Slept for 309 years, yet felt as if they had slept a day or part of a day.
– Time stopped for them, while it continued in the outside world.
*Uzair*:
– Was made to die for a hundred years and then revived, feeling no change in his body, while time had transformed everything around him—even his donkey, whose bones decayed and were then reassembled before his eyes
*🧩 Time as a Divine Tool for Teaching and Miracles*
These stories are not merely about breaking the laws of time—they carry profound spiritual lessons:
*In the story of the People of the Cave*:
– Preserving faith was so noble that time itself was suspended for its sake. The youths fled with their belief, and God honored them by making them a sign for all people.
*In the story of Uzair*:
– God wanted to show him how He resurrects the dead—so time itself became the medium of conviction, not just a sermon.
*🌌 Are We Approaching an Understanding of Divine Time?*
Despite scientific progress, time remains a mystery. Yet the Qur’anic stories offer a window into the idea that time is not a constraint on God’s power—it is one of His creations, shaped and directed as He wills. This invites us to humility before the unseen and contemplation of a divine power beyond all imagination.
*✨ When Time Becomes a Witness to Faith*
In Qur’anic stories, time is not just a backdrop—it is a silent protagonist, bearing witness to faith and revealing God’s power to fold the distances between:
– Life and death
– The unseen and the present
– The People of the Cave and Uzair
Here, time is not man’s enemy, but a message from God, whispering:
*“Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.”*
*A Fourth-Dimensional Example: The One Who Had Knowledge of the Book*
*“I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you.”*
In a world bound by unbreakable time, this Qur’anic verse opens a portal to the unseen, revealing a power that transcends physics and logic:
_“He who had knowledge of the Book said, ‘I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you.’”_
[Surah An-Naml: 40]
It is a moment where time halts—or rather, folds—becoming a pliable tool in the hands of one granted divine knowledge.
How do we understand this verse through the lens of the fourth dimension?
Could time in this story be a thin veil torn apart by divine knowledge?
*🧭 Who Was the One with Knowledge of the Book?*
The Qur’an does not name him explicitly, but scholars differ: some say he was *Asif ibn Barkhiya*, Solomon’s minister; others say he was a righteous man granted special knowledge by God.
What matters more than his name is the nature of his knowledge:
It was *knowledge from the Book*, not the whole Book—yet it was enough to defy the laws of matter and time, transporting the throne of Sheba from Yemen to Palestine in a blink.
*🕰️ Time Was Broken*
The phrase _“before your glance returns to you”_ is not mere rhetoric—it is a precise unit of time:
– The time it takes to open and close one’s eyes.
In that fraction of a second, a massive throne weighing tons was transported across thousands of kilometers.
This was not just a speeding up of time—it was a *transcendence of it*. As if time was no longer a barrier, but folded like paper.
*🔭 Time as a Foldable Distance*
In physics:
– Time is seen as the fourth dimension, complementing length, width, and height.
But in this story:
– Time appears not as a rigid dimension, but a *spiritual distance* that can be crossed through divine knowledge.
This knowledge is not empirical science—it is *knowledge from the Book*, from the unseen, from the limitless knowledge of God.
*✨ The Knowledge That Folds Time*
What kind of knowledge is this?
– Is it the knowledge of names?
– Energy?
– Communication with angels?
The Qur’an does not specify, but it links this supernatural ability to knowledge:
_“He who had knowledge of the Book…”
Here lies a profound message:
True knowledge is not only what is taught in universities, but what is opened to hearts by God—
Knowledge that:
– Enables its bearer to transcend time and space
– Makes matter submit to his will, by God’s permission
*🧠 The Paradox of Power and Time: Solomon vs. the Knower
Solomon, the prophet-king, asked his assembly to bring him the throne of Sheba.
A powerful jinn offered to bring it before Solomon could rise from his seat.
But the one with knowledge surpassed him, saying:
_“I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you.”
Here lies a striking paradox:
– Material power (the jinn) needs time
– Spiritual power (knowledge from the Book) transcends time
*🪐 Conclusion: Time Is No Obstacle to Divine Favor*
The story of the one with knowledge of the Book is not just a miraculous scene—it is an invitation to reflect on the nature of time,
and on God’s ability to grant His servants knowledge that allows them to surpass human limitations.
It is a moment where reason pauses, and faith begins—
Where time becomes a shadow, and the light of knowledge folds the universe.
If you’d like, I can help format this into a publishable article or presentation, or even design a visual timeline of these Qur’anic events across the fourth dimension.
