Divine Knowledge Means Discipline* _Captain Mohammed Hassan Al-Tahir_

If freedom, in the eyes of the wise, is the understanding of the wisdom behind the existence of a system that ensures discipline, then upon deeper reflection in today’s world—where knowledge accelerates and information sources multiply— _divine knowledge_ remains one of the highest forms of understanding. It is a knowledge tied not merely to human methodologies, but to divine revelation and inspiration.
It is a special kind of knowledge, granted by God to whomever He wills among His servants, and it combines:
– Profound understanding
– With behavioral discipline
as exemplified in the unique Qur’anic model of the Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him).
*📘 First: Definition of Knowledge*
Knowledge is both a tool and a perception:
– It is the firm grasp of things as they truly are.
– It is humanity’s tool for understanding the universe, interpreting phenomena, and achieving progress.
Yet knowledge is not limited to empirical or rational sciences. It also includes what is known as _divine knowledge_ —that which comes directly from God, as stated in the verse: _“And We taught him knowledge from Our own presence.”_
*🧠 The Relationship Between Knowledge, Awareness, and Consciousness*
Knowledge and information are inseparable twins:
– Information is the cumulative result of data and facts.
– Knowledge is the method that organizes this information and gives it meaning through awareness.
– Awareness represents the ethical and behavioral dimension of knowledge, transforming the learner into a disciplined, responsible individual capable of using knowledge for good and constructive purposes, not for corruption or destruction.
*🕊️ Solomon: Divine Knowledge and Discipline*
One of the most striking Qur’anic examples of divine knowledge coupled with discipline is the story of Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him).
God granted him a unique knowledge that enabled him to understand the language of birds and command the jinn, humans, and the wind.
What stands out in his story is not only the breadth of his knowledge but also his ability to organize it into a highly disciplined system, as illustrated in the verse:
_“And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers from the jinn, humans, and birds, and they were [kept] in order.”_
The phrase _“they were kept in order”_
means they were arranged and organized—no one advanced ahead of another, and no one broke rank.
This discipline was a reflection of deep divine knowledge, through which the Prophet of God managed his kingdom and excelled in leadership and governance.
*👥 Jinn and Humans: Unity in Diversity*
What’s remarkable about Solomon’s army is that it was not composed of humans alone—it included jinn, humans, and birds.
This duality between jinn and humans symbolizes the diversity of abilities and temperaments.
Yet divine knowledge was able to unify them under one banner, making them work in perfect discipline, without chaos or overstepping.
*🎯 Discipline: The Fruit of True Knowledge*
Discipline is not a restriction—it is a fruit of true knowledge.
Knowledge that does not produce disciplined behavior is incomplete.
Divine knowledge, with its light and guidance, teaches a person how to be responsible, how to weigh matters wisely, and how to place everything in its proper context.
In our time, we are in dire need of this kind of knowledge—knowledge that connects:
– Information with behavior
– Understanding with action
– Mind with heart
Divine knowledge is not acquired through reading alone, but through piety, sincerity in seeking truth, and readiness to bear the responsibility of what we learn and apply it in reality—so that we may fulfill the true purpose of freedom.
