_Anxiety of Political Mobilization between the Urge and Ergonomics Capt. Mohammed Hassan Al-Tahir

Date: October 7, 2026

Political mobilization may be a movement of feet in the street, but its origin is a movement of anxiety in the chest. The political person does not move because he is reassured, but because he is anxious, and anxiety here is not a disease, but a fuel that drives him to get out of the mud in order to survive and achieve ambition.

Every political mobilization in history has two and only two motives:

_1. A push motive from behind (Push):_ which is the fear of losing what exists. Fear for bread, for dignity, for identity (survival anxiety)

_2. A pull motive from the front (Pull):_ which is the longing for what is missing. Longing for freedom, for justice, for the state that resembles our dream (ambition anxiety)

Sudanese politics today lives both anxieties together, anxiety of:

– one who fears losing his homeland,

– one who dreams of finding his homeland.

And between these two anxieties, mobilization is born, and from here we find that:

– Mobilization without anxiety is a show.

– And anxiety without mobilization is depression.

And here is the crux of the matter, for anxiety is not a single value but a double-edged sword. We must analyze it scientifically:

_A. Positive anxiety (The driving force):_

It is the anxiety that makes you wake up early, read, organize, think of an alternative.

It is the anxiety of the mother of Moses when she cast her son into the river; her anxiety did not paralyze her, but made her act.

This anxiety produces the question: What do we do?

And this is the productive anxiety we need.

_B. Negative anxiety (The burning force):_

It is the anxiety that makes you scream, insult, break, and betray everyone around you.

It is an anxiety that makes you spin around yourself. It does not produce a question but produces screaming:

– Who is the cause?

– Who is the traitor?

The crisis of Sudanese political thought is that it has transformed all its anxiety from the first type to the second type.

We have become experts in diagnosing the disease, and incapable of prescribing the medicine. Our anxiety has become burning and inhibiting, not driving, and therefore we have lost the golden rule:

– Balanced anxiety moves you,

– And excessive anxiety burns you and burns those with you.

From here the question arises:

– Where does this anxiety come from?

In psychology, anxiety is a psychological state. But in biology, anxiety is _Urge_ – an impulse, an instinctive motivator, an involuntary inner call.

The Urge is that gland that pumps adrenaline before the mind thinks:

– When you see your homeland drowning, you don’t think first, but you feel a biological impulse telling you: Move! Do something!

The problem is that Urge without mind becomes frenzy.

Many of our political decisions were taken in a state of pure biological Urge:

– Anger, revenge, momentary fear.

So the decision was like someone firing a gun while trembling; he does not hit the target but kills his friend.

From here we find that between Urge and reason, there must be a cooling chamber that creates a time distance between the biological impulse and the political decision, so that the decision-maker does not act with an instinctive reaction but follows a Checklist.

Successful mobilization is that which respects Urge as fuel, but does not hand over the steering wheel to it.

We have now entered a new era, the era of artificial intelligence, where we find that:

– In the past, the conflict was between man and man.

– Today, the conflict is between man and his anxiety while he sits in front of a machine smarter than him.

Here comes the term _Ergonomics_.

And it is originally the science of designing tools to suit for example

– the human body, where the suitable chair is made for your back

But in politics and artificial intelligence, it is the answer to the question:

_How do we design our political thought to suit our human capabilities and not destroy them?_

Artificial intelligence produces for us

– a thousand news items per minute,

– a thousand rumors,

– a thousand analyses.

This creates a huge artificial anxiety. If we deal with it with the old Urge mentality, we will burn out. We will become mere reactions to what the robot produces.

And from here we find that productive behavior in the era of artificial intelligence is Ergonomic behavior:

Do not consume all the news,

– design a filter for yourself.

Do not interact with every provocation,

– design a time for silence for yourself.

– Do not let the machine determine your anxiety, but let your real anxiety (bread, dignity, homeland) determine your use of the machine.

The politician is the one who uses artificial intelligence as an assistant and not as an alternative actor that cancels his mind, and from here exactly political mobilization becomes an interaction between

Urge and Ergonomics and Ergo Sum

Which makes us reach a comprehensive equation

The philosopher Descartes said:_

– “I think, therefore I am – Cogito, Ergo Sum”_

Today we say in Sudanese politics:

I am anxious with a biological motive,

– therefore I move

And I design productive anxiety,

– therefore I remain

The future of political mobilization will not belong to those who have the loudest voice, nor to those who have the most weapons.

The future of mobilization will belong to those who succeeded in this tripartite equation:

1. Respects the _Urge_: Recognizes that:

– Anxiety is legitimate fuel,

– Fear for the homeland is an honorable instinct.

2. Masters _Ergonomics_:

– Designs this anxiety to become an institution, a plan, a job description, and a cooling chamber,

– Instead of it being screaming, and thus reaches the comprehensive stage

3. Reaches _Ergo Sum_:

Where he proves his existence not by noise, but by achievement.

I exist because I

– built and did not demolish

– repaired the damage and did not break the heart.

Conclusion:

The coming political mobilization in Sudan:

– Either it will be a random biological anxiety (Urge) that burns itself and burns us with it, becoming mere screaming

– Or it will be an intelligently designed anxiety (Ergonomics) that transforms fear into a plan, anger into an institution, and dream into a state.

And only from there, we can say: We think with designed anxiety, therefore we exist.
