Building Personality as a Separation Issue Captain Mohamed Hassan Al-Tahir

Date: May 24, 2026

Personality is the sum of psychological, social, and cultural traits that:

– Define the identity of the individual or group,

– Direct their behavior and interactions with others.

It is the fingerprint that distinguishes nations as it distinguishes individuals, and it determines their path in history and the present.

This personality plays a pivotal role in:

– Bringing peoples closer together when values and customs intersect,

– Or leading to separation when natures clash — like hyenas and gazelles — or when interests conflict.

Thus, personality is not merely an individual reflection, but a bridge or barrier between nations that leads to either separation or connection.

Separation and connection are two sides of a constant struggle between the natures of peoples:

– Separation appears as an option when visions and values diverge,

– While connection remains possible through dialogue and shared culture.

This duality reflects the nature of man, searching for identity and at the same time for belonging — a process in which history plays an important role, influencing the personality of the individual.

History leaves a deep imprint on the personality of individuals, for major events — wars, victories, and defeats — shape human consciousness and determine attitudes. Peoples that have experienced separation or unity carry in their collective memory lessons that never fade.

The Current Situation in Sudan

Sudan is a living example of the dialectic of separation and connection.

It has lived through the experience of the South’s separation, and still faces challenges of identity and diverse natures among its components.

The Sudanese crisis is not merely political, but a reflection of a personality struggle between:

– “The first Africans”

– And “the last Arabs.”

This description reflects the duality of cultural and geographical belonging, and also the dilemma of Sudanese identity:

– Is Sudan an extension of Africa with its culture and natures,

– Or is it part of the Arab world?

This duality creates internal tension, but it is also an opportunity to build a unifying personality that transcends division, through the saying: “Like attracts like.”

The famous saying confirms that similarity attracts:

– Peoples with similar natures tend toward unity,

– While sharp differences push toward separation.

But this does not mean that difference is a permanent obstacle; it can be a source of enrichment if managed wisely through personality building.

The Sudanese personality is described as fair and honest, unfamiliar with trickery or deceit. These traits make it:

– Closer to simplicity and clarity, but also

– More exposed to clashes with more pragmatic or evasive personalities.

Here appears the contradiction between the interests of elites and the conscience of peoples.

Political elites often push toward separation or connection according to their immediate interests (as seen with Al-Sisi),

While peoples bear the pain of difference as an inevitability born of diverse natures (as seen with Al-Burhan and logic).

Thus emerges the contradiction between elite interests and popular conscience.

The Role of Education and Culture

From here arises the role of education and culture instead of surgical operations.

Rather than imposing separation or unity through “Caesarean operations” that give birth to a new Caesar, efforts can be directed toward bringing natures closer through education and culture, which are more effective:

– By fostering connection, removing estrangement among the sons of Jacob through shared conscience,

– And by recognizing separation, as in the story of Joseph’s brothers who worked to separate him from his father, saying “He is more beloved to our father than us,” instead of saying “O father, do not follow Satan, for Satan was rebellious against his Lord.”

There is no doubt that shared knowledge among the sons of Sudan and cultural awareness are the path to building a unifying personality that:

– Transcends division,

– Embraces diversity,

– And even cheers for Algeria in the game of football.
